Wednesday November 23rd - Part 2

An intersection in Recife right near the beach.

It's not wise to swim at this beach because they dump the sewage from the city of 4 million into the ocean.
Gross!!!

It's still beautiful to look at!!

This was on our way walking to CLIRE.  It's dangerous walking around as traffic is not like in Canada where the pedestrian has the right of way.  In Recife - if you are bigger you win.
I must admit Suzanna and I were alittle oblivious to these dangers and were yelled at a few times by our guides.  Despite all of these extra dangers in Brazil - my levels of anxiety were pretty much non-existent.
The LORD blessed all of us with confidence in his protection and I'm certain that everyone's supportive prayers held us up to Him each and every day.  What a blessing!!

At the Reformed Reading Room looking at journals.

The shelves of books that the sell in the front.

An english Winnie the Pooh video - he's international!!!
I found him in the back where students can study.

This is a book on the table written by Pastor Kennedy (as the Brazilians call him).

"Everything the Armenians know about GRACE".
As you can see from the above picture the book is full of NOTHING!!
Somebody has a good sense of humor.

Centro de Literatura Reformada
(Reformed Reading Room)

Next we went to an old prison that had been turned into a tourist trap - that's where we bought our souvenirs.  It was a cool place!!

They were already decorating for Christmas.
Some typical souvenirs.

We had some juice at a vendor there and they had the most cool contraption.

See the blue dumb waiter on the right?  The servor would go up the ladder and make your juice there and then send it down on the dumb waiter.  Neat!!

Each old cell was now a store.

Most souvenirs from what we could tell were made in Brazil and not in China - that was refreshing!!

Reading and sending our e-mail at night as usual.  Notice the chunky wall at Will's left?  The mildew is a constant battle that requires a lot of maintenance to keep it at bay.

  1. Love the pictures! Beautiful beach despite the sewage water getting mixed in the water. ;-) Did it smell bad on the beach?
