Life over Winter

Visiting Cousin Iris born on December 29th.
Isn't she adorable???
Nadia seems so big comparably.
We noticed that she had a Faber nose.  For the rest she looks like her mother, InHee.
I love this picture from the summer and I was going to use it on our Christmas card and forgot.
Thanks to the Kooiman's for taking such a good shot.
I also forgot if I had posted this yet or not so I just did it again!!

And here are some updated shots of the kids who you haven't seem in ages because I've been blogging about Brazil - only 3 days left on our trip to blog!!

So, yes here is proof that the children are alive and well.

These are all mostly from Aleana's camara as ours has been MIA for about 3 months now.
We got it back on Thursday!!!  Now you can look forward to more blogs :) - I hope.
Greetings and may you have a blessed Sunday worshipping our LORD and Saviour Jesus Christ!

November 25, 2011 - Part 2

The church in Maceio where Rev. D preaches.

These pictures are from the school which is next door.
Here are three different versions of Pilgrim's Progress in Portuguese.
Don't you love it? "O Pequino Peregrino" - "A Little Pilgrim"

The church from the outside with Juan Calvino next door.

A mall in Maceio - they must look the same everywhere.

Looks the same don't you think?

An indoor skating rink!!

The food court - the food was pretty yucky here and expensive.

This is a "flower" a young boy made for me in Maragogi.  I kept telling him I had no money and I was quite upset about it - Rev. V. kindly gave me some Reals (pronounced Hay I ) to give the little guy.
I really shouldn't have worried so much about it because as soon as he had the extra cash he went and bought a pop for himself.   Starving - no.  Industrious - yes.

A jelly fish like the one that stung Rev. V. later in the day.  When he was screaming we thought he was horsing around as is his character.  I told him that he shouldn't joke about these things (in a joking way) but when he didn't stop yelling we realized he was serious.  Apparently (and I can say this as a witness) it hurts like the dickens for about an hour and then just leaves a nasty whip-type wound.

The absolutely gorgeous beach in Maragogi we stopped at on the way to home base in Recife.
After my thigh cramped up in the back of the pick-up truck - this one hour swim in the ocean was most welcome and very relaxing.  The water felt like a luke warm bath tub and lulling waves were dream-like.

sigh...what a great memory.

A cousin shot.

Suzanna enjoying the surf.

For one hour we felt like we were on a holiday together and it was so relaxing!!!
It was almost four o'clock and you can tell that the sun is already going down.

As you can see we drove the pick up almost right up to the beach- isn't that awesome???

A place people would have beach parties in.

One last shot before we left.
Good-bye ocean - you are so beautiful!!!
Water can be so healing.
My leg did not bother me again for the rest of the trip - thank you LORD!!

New to Us Cabinets in the Laundry Room

We (Will with my support) also put laminate in here over Christmas.  The cabinets were hand-me-downs from Riemer - they re-did their kitchen cabinets so we got the old ones.  I love re-using stuff.  It saves money and it's less waste in the land fills.  The idea is to build cabinets for the bottom and we have doors from Riemer for that too.  It will be nice because then I will have one big long counter to put the baskets on and the lower cabinets to store all the grocery staples in.  I'm envisioning pull out drawers for big sacks of flour and sugar etc.. and drawers for cans and smaller items.

I don't have a before picture but if you can imagine two closets from floor to ceiling with typical closet doors that did not go to the ceiling.  So it was great for shelving but not very practical because all of the shelves on the top were inaccessible.  I would like to put more in baskets on the top of these cabinets or maybe I won't have to.  It's always a process and I will take more pictures - once we have our camara back!!
