Spring Break Trips - White Rock and Delta Water Shed

I think we have 10 different pictures with different kids in this rock in different years.
Classic!!

Everything is blooming early here!

Um, Dad - that looks like a long way down.

It was one of the few sunny days we had for Spring Break.

Hay!  There's water down there!!

Maybe, I can touch it?

All these gorgeous shots are by Aleana.

I didn't look when they pulled this stunt. Dad was on stand by.

The sun dial with the golden orb itself.

All the girls had to take turns feeding the baby when he visited us.
It was hilarious!!  I walked in to Aleana's room and found him in his glory.  Aleana was rubbing his head and combing it and Nadia was massaging his feet.  He had this look of utter contentment on his face!! What a life!!
Baby snuggle time is good medicine.

Not many good pictures of our Delta Watershed hike.  This is an awesome shot of how grown up Madilyn is.  She can hold her own - she is tough.  She almost did the whole hour by herself.
Spring Break was a good break and it was nice for the kids to have Will around too.
It's great to be back into routine though - too much break is just too much.
Now we can look forward to sunnier days - thank you LORD for Spring!!

Sweet and Simple Seams Sleep Sack

This is the second sleep sack I've made since January.  I can not find the pictures I took for the first.  They are either on the camara or computer somewhere!!!  It was a simple up-cycle of one of Will's T-shirts but I left the bottom open and little miss got all tangled up in it one day after deciding to try take it off.  I should have taken a picture - it was purely pathetic.  I knew I had to make the real deal.
The ones I made for winter here are warm and cozy but with the zipper on the side, she was happy as a lark to unzip and take them off!!!

We had continually resorted to the 12 month - Simple Seams Sack Grandma had made for Madilyn - but she was not comfortable in it being so small and I felt alittle like it was more like a straight jacket for her than a sleep sack (because it was so small).  Otherwise, it worked great - if we put it on BACKWARDS.

So I checked my stash and found two meters (just enough!!) of flannel I had found at VV boutique for $2 each.

Here's the pattern from Karen DeMooy that I borrowed from Grandma Hilda.

It was quite easy to use - I made one big mistake but that's just me - I usually read instructions the opposite of what it means until it's too late.  I learn by trial and error.  That can be frustrating when you are a perfectionist but I'm learning to accept that about myself :).

I have to finish the zipper with a top stitch yet but we needed to use it FAST so I'll have to find a moment to get to it.  I had to modify the pattern so the front and back were opposite, I also had the zipper coming from the top so she can't reach it.  That was all challenging but worked out in the end.  See the little  "V" I put in the front collar?  It's cute but not what I had intended.

This only took me 3 and a half hours to make!!  Without mistakes it would be under 3.
I gave it to her when she woke up in the morning and she smiled and actually said "Thanks Mom!".
What a kid!!!  Little did she know...now she kicks and screams when I put it on but goes to sleep in five minutes.  What a great invention!!!  Good workout for a busy Mom too!! These busy bodies like to make me sweat!!

Here she is playing with her mashed potatoes.  It was so cute because she was singing at the same time.  We got it on video.  Funny memory.

Do Not Fear God Like the Pagans Do

In the past week a good friend wrote me these words..."Thankfully, we can depend on God in these hard times and not fear Him like the pagans do".

It really got me thinking.

She wrote this to me because she was trying to encourage me in our moment of shock.  We are now without employment.  Teradici started their re-structuring plan last Tuesday which included us.

Her words reminded me of Matthew 6:31-33

"So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you NEED them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well."

We are so blessed to know this!!   It doesn't mean that my life is now a bowl of cherries or that I from now on will never worry - but rather it means that I know where to turn to when the worry does come. My Father will feed me like no other.  Not just Physically but also Spiritually.  He will feed our children. He will - simply because He told me so.  All I can say to that is - thanks LORD I needed to know that again and again and again - just keep on telling me!!

February 13, 2015 - Madilyn's 2nd Birthday!!!

Hmmm what's in there?

His name, now and forever shall be...PUPPY!!
Aleana's Will's Mom made him for Madilyn.  He's a gorgeous, colorful creature.

We had gift certificates to Montana's from Christmas - for the whole family!!
The only time we were all available was Madilyn's big day - worked out great.

Nadia loves to smile!!

Madilyn had a great time!! Her noise was drowned out by all the other noise in the big restaurant - perfect!!

More presents!!!

We opened presents the next day because we didn't have time on her actually day.

Don't worry Puppy I will still love you - always!!

Wahoo!! Duplo!!!

And then...a pizza party with cousins and grandparents.

Madilyn makes Auntie Michelle laugh.  She makes lots of people laugh!!

Boys being goofy.

Happy Birthday Madilyn - can't believe you are two already!!  May God bless you in the years to come and may you continue to give us much joy.
