On Thursday we drove up the mountain, to do the alpine meadow trail. You can see Lightening Lake in the top middle off to the right abit. We were quite high!!
Off to the top middle left is the peak of Mt. Frosty where Will and Ethan hiked up last year!!
I am still impressed. See the long ridge on the left - that is where you hike to get to the top.
When Will and Ethan went it was raining hard and the wind was blowing so strong that they could feel the ridge trembling!!!
It was too bad that most of the Indian Paintbrushes were no longer in bloom.

What is a mountain without Heather?
On our way up the trail.
There were splashes of color.
What does this picture remind you of?
I'll get to answering that in a moment.

Up, up we go.
The crew holding up the rear.
This camara case tastes delicious.
Maybe I'll share if I'm feeling generous.
The boys looking at a bird or something.
Peter was getting tired - "My legs are sore!!"
He has the biggest and yet cutest pout.
An alien space ship landing on the top.

Actually, this is a telephone radio tower very much like the ones Will serviced in Alberta, Ontario and Quebec back in the day when he worked for BMS communications. You can not be scared of heights when you have a job like that.
This picture reminds me of "The Sound of Music" movie.
Ummmm maybe not.
Peter cheered up when he saw the snow.
Maybe I can make a snowball!!!
Now my hands are cold.
Now my hands are cold.
More lake pictures.
Smooth water.
Will tied a rope to the dinghy so Matthew and Peter could enjoy some frolicking freedom.
No, Peter you do it this way!
Trying out some features on our camara.
Take off the shoes and leaving it all behind - I'm loving that!!
Hay Dad! Take a picture of me dunking myself!!
Okay Dad!!
That's what I love about canoeing is that you combine different people from the family together and that's always interesting. For this trip - Peter decided when we were in the shallows that he wanted to leave the canoe. "I'm just going to get out now okay Mom?"
"No! You may not stand up or get out."
"Why not Mom, I won't drown, and I just want to get out okay?"
"Peter, once you get out I'm not sure where you are going to go and how you are going to get back in."
"But I know Mom, I'll be fine, just let me go, okay?"
and on and on the conversation went until his desire to leap out and explore the water
and not feel so claustrophobic ended.
It made me laugh and shake my head in wonder anyway.

Beautiful places! Such nice views...
ReplyDeleteI think that bird you saw is called a Whiskey Jack. They take food right out of your hands if you let them!
