Chore #12 - still not done but that's okay...

Okay, I'm going to follow Mom D's advice (thanks for the reality check, I needed it!!) and get over my Super Mom ego.  Yesterday I decided to focus on laundry and today I focused on some visiting and baking (much needed!).  Tomorrow I'm cleaning the church nursery with another Mom and possibly the craft cupboard (at church) so you may not hear from me again til Friday ;).  See you then!!!

"I love the LORD, the fount of life and grace,
He heard my voice, my cry and supplication,
Inclined His ear gave strength and consolation,
In life and death my heart will seek His face."
Ps. 116:1 - Old Psalm Book

Chore #12 8/13 done

On Saturday June 9th we had a baby shower at our house for Jon and Ava's daughter Alcyon.
It was fun!!

Here is the dolly herself with one of the grandmas. There were two great grandmas, two grandmas, some great aunts and even one great great aunt!!!

Aleana made these delicious chocolate dipped strawberries.  Yum yum!!!

So yesterday I washed 8 of the 13 cupboards in the kitchen.  What a task!!  It took me three hours.
I have five more to do but today I'm toasted.  Tomorrow I will post some pictures of the most cleaned up ones.  Thankfully most of them were cleaned last summer by Ethan so it wasn't too bad but it is definitely needed in places like the snack cupboard where crumbs like to hang out.
I really feel like I am losing my motivation.  I have noticed that I am starting to think of ways to avoid getting this job done (or postpone it).  I am finding it hard to do the things I normally do in the day like bake for the kids and make granola.  Oh no, now I'm whining.  Maybe this afternoon or maybe even tomorrow I will feel differently about seeing the last half of the chores through.

Now this doesn't have alot to do with chores (although it might...)
We were reading this in devotions yesterday and I would like to share it.
It's from Hebrews 12: 5-7.
"And you have forgotten that word of encouragemenet that addresses you as sons: "My son, do not make light of the Lord's discipline, and do not lost heart, when he rebukes you, because the Lord disciplines those he loves, and punishes everyone he accepts as a son."  Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as sons. For what son is not disciplined by his father?"
The foot note for 12:5 states "Suffering and persecution should be seen as corrective and instructive training for our spiritual development as his children.".
The foot note for verse 11 ("No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful.  Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it") states "When received submissively discipline is wholesome and beneficial."

So tell me dear reader - how long is it going to take for me to learn that lesson and why oh why didn't I learn that earlier and save myself a whole lot of grief?  The frustrations of our rebellion against our Father in heaven!!!
And tell me too..have you learned to accept the Lord's discipline when hardship comes your way?

Have a blessed day in God's Almighty hands.

Chore #12

Wash Kichen Cabinets

I'm expecting this chore to take a couple of days.  Yes, I am starting to get more realistic.
One extra thing that I have to do this week is find more things to purge for our church garage sale on Saturday (9-1 at Maranatha Church, if you're interested stop on by).  The ladies aid is raising money so we can do a few updates in the church kitchen (which is 40 years old!!).  I hope to have a table or two.
So, if I go through the cabinets I may find a few things to sell :).
I'll try to update later today but sometimes it doesn't work out.  Homework and Mission Board work trump Mommy's housework updates :).

Wycliffe Park and Cypress Mountain - March 2012

Chore #10 & #11 - Completed

Here's a little cupboard skirt I made - I'm still having problems getting it to stay up - any suggestions?
I put elastic through and tied it with ribbon on the end to hooks but it still sags - it's taped up with duct tape right now :(.  What else can I do?

Aleana had an early birthday party with her friends.
I made her an ice cream cake.
Quick blow them out before they melt the whole thing!!

I think she blew all of them out - she'll correct me if I'm wrong on that one :).

Nadia could not wait for me to get out of the bathroom for her nap the other day and I found her here.
So sweet!!!

Chore #10 was to clean the patio doors.

Don't they look sparkling?  Nice kids in the background too.

Another shot of the skirt.
You may remember another one from not too long ago but the funny thing is that later I wanted to make curtains for the kitchen window so I cut the skirt up for that :).  Will laughs that I'm always changing things but then he can't complain that it's boring around here right?

Oh yes, the downstairs walls were completed as well. No pictures.
Have a blessed LORD's day worshipping our Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
