Thursday, November 24 - Part 3

Some more very cool artwork...

This part of the library in the Escola Biblica Christa school.  Small isn't it??

As you can see "The Cat in the Hat" can be found anywhere.  Probably donated by a Canadian... but then again maybe not.

My favourite animal - turtles!!  This was a mural I found on the side of the school.

I noticed that preteen girls are same no matter where you are!!

Always ready with beautiful smiles!!

The church in Barra Grande
Pastor Tyago lives next to the church in the home you see here.  He was in Surrey Maranatha Canadian Reformed church in August 2010 to preach the Word of God in a special evening sermon.
I found out he likes fighter jets just like my brother :).

A skiff (splg?) for fishing in Maragogi.

A lonely coconut on the beach.

The water was sooooo nice!!!

What a gorgeous world we live in - our Creator is so amazing and awesome!!

That is a rich American mansion in the background.  They like the beaches in Maragogi.
My man.

The church in Maragogi.
A jelly fish like the one that stung Rev. V when we went swimming the next day.

A street in Maragogi.

Japaratinga church.

A sign for the kids.  Will loves how the word "Japaratinga" sounds and in our house it has become an exclaimation of sorts.
"Japaratinga!!!"  Will said when he opened up the smoking oven door.
is an example of how it may be used.
Our kids have now seen the evidence that we were there :) and it's not just something Dad made up as he likes to do with exclaimation words eg. Jalabetina!! is one such made up word.  This word is usually preceded by "Japaratinga" or "Nadia" which both go very nicely with "Jalabetina".

The country side on our way to Maceio.

It was a little hazy out.

Some favela shacks along the way.
A small town we stopped in to stretch our legs.

Same town.

Maceio is HUGE!!!  There are 1 million people living there and in the downtown area (where we stayed for the night) there were Christmas lights up already.  As you can see I did not get a good picture but you get the idea.

  1. Great pictures. We enjoyed Will showing us pictures here. You can really see the rich vs. poor through the pictures.
