This is the road to the suite that we rented. It was a ten minute walk from the road.
We were unable to drive down because we do not have a four by four - that is how steep and crazy the road is. We timed it so that I only had to make the trek up twice. Phew!!
This is the only picture I have of inside unfortunately (actually, that's not entirely true, pics of me in my PJs don't count). Is was quite cozy. We had our own kitchen so we cooked all our own meals and quite enjoyed watching the boats pass on by.
We decided to drink our raspberry juice in wine glasses to be more festive.
Will, standing in the would be parking stalls if we had had four wheel drive.
We packed all our food in our Wike trailer and rolled it down the hill.
It felt like we were hiking in the back country!
Side view of our cottage. We stayed in the Lazy Bowen Petite Suite - the bottom of the house but with awesome views!!!
A cave we found really close to our suite.
As you may be able to see - our house was on a cliff.
This is looking up from a ledge lower down.
Will is on the ledge here - looking down at the shore.
"Will, look at that boat over there!"
It was nice to reconnect.
We found a swing!!
One of us tried it out. Brave guy!
This was on shore looking towards our suite -you can see it on the far left.
The shoreline was U- shaped.
BC Ferry coasting by - view from the deck.
This was our deck - too bad it was too chilly to use for meals.
Quick! Get the camara the sun is shining!
A Canadian Navy boat that scooted past.
Closer...
This is in town - our second day - this is a cute back alley we found (really not hard to find anything here, it's a pretty small place).
I am 21.75 weeks pregnant with Junior in this picture.
For prosterity's sake, I needed to record that.
A beautiful board walk in town.
The town library - beware! everything in town (okay not quite everything) is opened from Thurs-Sun. Not happy about that when you need a bathroom.
The marina in town.
Same marina.
These were funky bamboo shoots in the same back alley we found. It almost felt like Hawaii.
It was 3:00 and I had to feed the baby.
What else when you can't have wheat? Yummy!!!
This is a bay on the other side of the island. It was cloudy but quite pleasant outside. We sat on a log and chatted for awhile. Just plain nice.
This picture makes it look really dark but I don't remember it that way. There are kids on the dock in the middle, laughing and playing. It was our nicest day.
Same beach.
Our journeys took us to this bike park which I had to get a picture of because I knew that our boys would be so intrigued.
A lake near by that we walked around.
Same lake - I need to remember it's name.
Beautiful shot of the lily pads on the lake.
Another winner. To Will's credit.
I like this one too.
This is a fish ladder on Bridal Veil Falls on Bowen Island.
No fish yet!!
Looking downstream to the ocean.
This is a cruise ship driving by - sigh!!!
Closer look - have a good time everyone!
The same cave as before with the tide in.
Around the bay where we stayed.
Down by the bay....where the watermelons grow...back to my home...
I dare not go...
for if I do, my mother will say...
Did you ever see a boy who looked so full of joy?
Down by the Bay!!
PS: Peter got into Aleana's ink pad the other night. When I went to check on him at 11 - this is what I found. He was not happy about being woken up to be cleaned at such an hour!!
What a mean mother!! (and father helped too :)).
PSS: Thanks to everyone who took care of our monkeys while we were away - we really appreciated the time to ourselves and the peace and quiet. You all are great!!!
