Interruptting Regular Programming

Remove Formatting from selection This morning we were doing housework and Peter's chore is to do compost but he also really likes to wash walls and while he was busy doing that this is what he said to me: "Mom, when I grow up I'm going to wash people's walls because I'm so good at it. And Matthew and I are going to have a farm on our days offs from being firefighters."

Peter and Matthew have a grand plan of living together on a farm. They would complement each other quite nicely I believe. Matthew would come up with all the ideas of how things would run, but in order to stay focussed on one thing, he would need Peter to organize the minute details and particulars that he would have a hard time getting to. They have also decided that they will have a restaurant on the farm with cheap $1 burgers because then everyone would come!!

This all, of course, on their days off from being firefighters because being a rescue hero has a certain level of romanticism that even boys cannot resist. Who am I to squash their dreams?

And where do wives and children fit into all this? Well, Matthew has already decided that if he never gets married he wants to adopt!! He probably somehow (I can not even begin to assume that I know how his mind works) got that idea from listening to Focus on the Family show on the radio at night without me knowing :).

Peter asked me yesterday "How come only Mommies have babies and not the Daddies? That's not fair!!" Ummmm how to answer that one??? Peter felt that the Daddies should be given equal opportunity. I'm glad he sees it as such a blessing and something to be jealous of rather than the rest of the world that sees it as curse that needs to be shared. I decided to use KISS- Keep it Simple Simple. "Because that's how God made us!!", I answered. When he's older and blessed, LORD willing, to witness his wife give birth - I think he'll change his mind about it but you never know :).

The man's curse and the woman's curse will always be that - a curse. Our attitudes about our respective curses and roles however, can make a huge impact on our children's outlook in life.

If we see Jesus' redemptive work through our work then we are given the ability to see our blessings that come through it.

Have a blessed day in the LORD's care !

PS: I have been having trouble commenting on my own blog. Sometimes I want to respond to a comment and say thanks for sharing that or whatever else and I just can not make it work.

So do know that I appreciate your comments and you sharing your thoughts and reactions - it is greatly appreciated!!

I also seem to be having a problem with the formatting - if anyone knows how I can get rid of these huge spaces I would appreciate your suggestions!! I delete them while I am writing but then once it publishes they are still there. And now, because I was experimenting, I have this wierd formatting squares. ARGHHHH. Thanks.

  1. Too funny about the farm- must be a Faber thing, 'cause Lydia and Robyn always say they're going to live on a farm together when they grow up!

  2. I can totally picture Matthew being a farmer especially with old-fashioned striped cover-alls! Say "hi" to them all!
