While I was gone to Ontario Will and Ethan worked on Nadia's room and painted it from boy blue to girlie purple and pink. I'll take better pictures another time but you can have a glimpse here.
Nadia loves to watch the big kids play in the front and the neighbors from her bedroom window.
She'll watch for up to a half an hour!!!
I am so thankful to have those walls washed!!! I have three tips for washing walls.
1) Use dishsoap - it cuts through all the greasy hand marks.
2) Use a swiffer type mop for hard to reach places (credit to Will's Mom for that idea!!) like the top of the wall or in the stair wells.
3) Use a Mr. Clean Dry Eraser for black marks (credit to Christine for that idea).
I need to go - Nadia's awake :). See you tomorrow!!!
I would add one thing: Instead of spending money on Mr. Clean Dry Eraser for black marks, just add some baking soda to a wet cloth and scrub. Works just as good or better and cheaper. I found out that tip from watching these two English cleaning ladies on TV one time. Can't quite remember the name of the show, but it stuck. They also gave me the tip about how to remove non-washable ink from floors and appliances - hairspray the ink, let it dry, and it wipes off just like that. Bethany had found a non-washable marker and drew ALL over the fridge, stove, and dishwasher. That really worked well.
ReplyDeleteWay to go on the cleaning! By the way, the baking soda and water solution works way better on glasstop/ceramic stoves than the expensive Cerama Bryte they suggest to use on the stove.
Another tip that I learned from that show was if you have sticky crud in your microwave, just wet a washcloth and put it in the microwave and cook it for a few seconds. The steam will make all the gunk easy to clean out...just like that.
Just had to check. The name of the show was "How Clean is Your House?". I should check them out on youtube when I feel unmotivated to clean. When you see what they clean, it provokes you to action. ;-)
ReplyDeleteGuess what I did today? Washed all the blinds...the back door one was so filthy (probably not cleaned in about 10 years...person before me was worse at cleaning than even me...LOL). I didn't realize those blinds were even WHITE. I honestly thought they were DARK brown. Also did a lot of vinegar and soap solutions around the house for weeds. We are not allowed here in Ontario to use chemicals (Round Up, etc.). Got some colour to my fair complexion which is okay. How was your day? Looking for an update.
ReplyDeleteHello, I did the swifter trick to the corner of the walls today when I washed the bootroom/laundry room walls. Good tip your mother-in-law gave! Got lots done today indoors since it poured so much outside. Thankfully, I managed to get the flower beds in the front and back weeded and the lawns mowed yesterday before it started pouring.
