Christmas 2011

I'm not quite done with our Brazil pictures yet but I wanted to do this before it was summer!!
Our camara broke just before Christmas and I can honestly say that this time it was not my fault.  In fact we can't really blame anyone - so until it comes back (or get's sent??) to the manufacturer I will have to borrow pictures from Aleana.  All of these shots are from A's camara - thanks Aleana!!!

Ethan receiving his lego from Peter.

Notice there are no decorations on the bottom?  Nadia was actually really good with the decorations - girls are not as destructive as boys.

Some brotherly love from Matthew to Peter - awwww.

I have no clue what's happening but everyone else is happy so I will be too!!

Nadia LOVES touchy feely books.

Matthew regifted a book for Nadia.  I love when they do that!

Boxes are always way more exciting then the presents right?

Aleana recieved a "gift certificate" from her Dad to get a gold fish.
She was tickled pink.

Somebody (not me!) bought Peter a whoopie cushion.  It only lasted for ohh 10 minutes.  We sure had fun for those 10 minutes and then it was so sad when it exploded - oh the tears!!!

Matthew receiving his first Bible.

Peter putting on a show for us!!

That's Will opening our Ripley's Believe It or Not! book from Auntie Marj.
It is really disgusting - in an interesting sort of way :).

Correction Notice

Good thing Will reads my blog and he has pointed out some errors that needed correcting.
This is to inform you that Pastor Tyago lives next to the church of Barra Grande NOT Maragogi and that the Escola Biblica Crista school is in San Jose NOT Maceio like I mistakenly reported.  Just another reminder to myself to NOT rely on my memory for anything :).  Since I have been informed of these errors I have corrected them where necessary.  Sorry for any confusion this may have caused - I certainly do not want to be doing any false reporting!!!

Thursday, November 24 - Part 3

Some more very cool artwork...

This part of the library in the Escola Biblica Christa school.  Small isn't it??

As you can see "The Cat in the Hat" can be found anywhere.  Probably donated by a Canadian... but then again maybe not.

My favourite animal - turtles!!  This was a mural I found on the side of the school.

I noticed that preteen girls are same no matter where you are!!

Always ready with beautiful smiles!!

The church in Barra Grande
Pastor Tyago lives next to the church in the home you see here.  He was in Surrey Maranatha Canadian Reformed church in August 2010 to preach the Word of God in a special evening sermon.
I found out he likes fighter jets just like my brother :).

A skiff (splg?) for fishing in Maragogi.

A lonely coconut on the beach.

The water was sooooo nice!!!

What a gorgeous world we live in - our Creator is so amazing and awesome!!

That is a rich American mansion in the background.  They like the beaches in Maragogi.
My man.

The church in Maragogi.
A jelly fish like the one that stung Rev. V when we went swimming the next day.

A street in Maragogi.

Japaratinga church.

A sign for the kids.  Will loves how the word "Japaratinga" sounds and in our house it has become an exclaimation of sorts.
"Japaratinga!!!"  Will said when he opened up the smoking oven door.
is an example of how it may be used.
Our kids have now seen the evidence that we were there :) and it's not just something Dad made up as he likes to do with exclaimation words eg. Jalabetina!! is one such made up word.  This word is usually preceded by "Japaratinga" or "Nadia" which both go very nicely with "Jalabetina".

The country side on our way to Maceio.

It was a little hazy out.

Some favela shacks along the way.
A small town we stopped in to stretch our legs.

Same town.

Maceio is HUGE!!!  There are 1 million people living there and in the downtown area (where we stayed for the night) there were Christmas lights up already.  As you can see I did not get a good picture but you get the idea.
